I got used to freezing darkness
for within its walls i found solace
born from the shell
a husk of soul
free from worry
now my fate is only an allegory
i met a kindred once upon
before i felt a rock bottom
i cracked the shell
let the light in
and like Pandora's box
dark spilled from within
in whispers came cheer
and faceless tried to praise
deft to the melody
of crumbling fate
lost was the boy
only she now remains
time passed and memory paled
decrepit painting in attic of mind
moved on the girl with pained heart
took to the shadow
stayed out of life
seeking harmony without strife
bearing a mask she took an idle path
keep them out she tried
turn a cheek
shuffle a laugh
building walls around her feeble heart
until came along a piece of art
colors dancing on canvas of life
embedded in frame of freer mind
with scars in heart and future on a split
she brought a smile
where birds failed to sing
for the queen, or the king
then gone was the muse
only void left to root
dance of one
sad a sight
resonance of hope
doused the light
bronze and petite
primrose by eye
but her heart stood like a wall
impassible and cold
last drop by the dawn
last step before the fall
dreams I've had and hopes i lost
heard from the east
felt the passion of the west
came wind from the north
with nothing of worth
south swallowed the rest
