BonBon, Bonbon or Bon Bon?
#1
Hi everypony!

Me and my friends are having quite a discussion how to spell name of this mare.
[Obrázek: bon_bon_revectorization_by_kna-d4887e8.png]
We all know that on the blindbag cards it's Sweetie Drops. But how to spell the sweeter variant?
Is it BonBon, Bonbon or Bon Bon?

She doesn't have a surname so Bonbon would make sense.

The older generations say that it's Bon Bon, fan things as well and so does the Gameloft game. But the game also says that her name is French word for candy and guess what? In French it's translated as bonbon Rainbowlaugh

Help! (I was already told I broke the internet Rainbowlaugh )

Thea friend.
While bonbon is a French and German meaning of "sweet candy", HerUnknownName's name is not "Bonbon", because of rule that ponies have English names* (any exceptions?) or at least not "non-English" (like Zecora, Scootaloo or Derpy (well, not English, it's internet English) so her name is cleverly not foreign "Bonbon", but a nothing-like-sounding-but-referencing-to-sweets "Bon Bon". Sounds like "Moon Moon", but much cleverly used.
*Not these like "Adam", but names with English word(s) in it.
Oh no. We are doomed.

Actually, I think both 'Bonbon' and 'Bon Bon' can be used. Fanfiction authors use both so it mostly depends on your personal preference. It's not like Applejack which is the only correct variant where using 'Apple Jack' is often considered wrong.

I prefer to call her Bon Bon, though.

As for Fleur, we already know that "French" exists in pony universe so I don't really see why French names would not appear.

Okay, there are some exceptions. But, mostly, there are English names.

I just checked some fics I've read earlier, and "Bonbon" seems quite popular in general, as well as "Bon-Bon" (as if there weren't enough versions already Rainbowlaugh). Wiki, on the other hand, calls her "Bon Bon".

Me? I just call her "Bonbon", nice and simple Pinkiesmile I guess it is up to everyone to pick their favourite, just like with Vinyl's eyes.

What's the matter? There will always be someone who will argue, but now I think there is no rule of spelling/writing her name. Any writing/spelling may even be wrong: her name wasn't mentioned in the show, so it's not canon name.
Just as most of background ponies (except AJ)
